A Collection of Anzac Verses

What would those who died to preserve our way of life think of holding
the 2008 Olympic games in China? My Grandad fought in the trenches and
I know he would not be happy. Those responsible will need some bloody
good answers to appease him and his mates when they reach heavens gates.

John Hilland Powlton - 25/4/2008

Lest we forget

	---	---

Those heroes who shed there blood
And who have lost there lives
You are now lying in the soil of a friendly country
Therefore rest in peace
There is no difference between the Johnnies and
Mehmets to us where they lie side by side
Here in this country of ours
You the mothers
Who sent your sons from far away countries
Wipe your tears
Your sons are now lying in our bosom
And are in peace
After having lost there lives on this land they have
Become our sons as well

Mustafa Kemal Ataturk 1934

	---	---

They Shall Grow Not Old
As We That Are Left Grow Old
Age Shall Not Weary Them
Nor The Years Condemn
At The Going Down Of The Sun
And In The Morning
We Shall Remember Them.

Lest We Forget.

The soldier stood and faced his God
Which must always come to pass
He hoped his boots were shining
As brightly as his brass
There was a silience around the Throne
Where the angels often trod
As the soldier waited quietly
For the judgement of his God
Step forward now you Hero
You've served your country well
Walk in peace on Heavens streets
You've done your time in hell
